Beshlie Blood
Beshlie is the newest member of the Metzger team, joining in 2010. Her background includes 8 years of recruitment within SME and Corporate environments. Currently working alongside Morna Metzger, her breadth of experience is assisting the business to grow and develop in the Support Services Sector across the UK.
What did life hold for you before Metzger?
After a brief encounter with the Law, as an undergraduate LLB student in Liverpool, I spent a few years working in sales and PR before securing a role with a national recruitment firm in 2003. I began work there in Derby where I was recruiting in the Railway industry, before being promoted after 18 months to go and run an office in Scotland. I expanded my experience into contract and permanent recruitment in the general Engineering marketplace which included the Oil and Gas sector. I then moved with my partner to the prosperous South East in 2006 where I ran a contract team which grew to be the most profitable in the company and also withstood the recession in 2007.
Can you name one person who has really inspired you and why?
Mo Mowlam - the now deceased former Secretary of State for N. Ireland who brokered the Good Friday Agreement. She was being treated for cancer and still managed to succeed in bringing arch enemies together using her frank communication style. She visited the Maze which was a very brave move I admire her for her sense of humour, intelligence and courage.
What values do you look for in a candidate?
I look for candidates who understand themselves and what makes them tick. If they have thought about what they are looking for, or even not looking for, and why this is the right move for them, then this shows me that they take their career seriously.
What would be your best career advice?
Be open-minded! I didn't set out to work in Recruitment - I didn't even know what is was when I was at school and I was deciding on my A Levels, but it suits my personality and gives me the challenge and variety I thrive on.
Tell me something that no one knows about you?
I can write my full name upside-down in numbers on a calculator.
And finally, what is your burning ambition?
To travel the world - I am working my way around bit by bit - it might be Thailand or the USA next!
