What did life hold for you before Metzger?
Unlike many of my Metzger colleagues, my background is very much recruitment. I spent nearly 5 years with a consultancy specialising in the Enterprise Software industry and previously a similar tenure as a Managing Consultant with a specialist professional consultancy in the finance sector.
Can you name one person that has really inspired you and why?
Apart from my father, I most admire Ian Botham who was a complete all-rounder at the top of his sport … he could also have been a professional footballer …. and he has done so much charitable work in recent years. Similarly, in my opinion, Daley Thompson who could be described as one of the world's greatest ever all round athletes winning back-to-back Olympic Gold medals in the decathlon event.
What values do you look for in a candidate?
Put quite simply, enthusiasm, integrity, collaboration, innovation and leadership
What would be your best career advice?
Always learn by your mistakes to improve yourself taking out the positives – don’t let them hold you back.
Tell me something that no one knows about you?
Most people know that I really enjoy sport but not many will know that I regularly compete in Triathlons – I love the challenge and the exhilaration of being really fit. It gives me structure and goals in my life, which I feel is important for me as I have a young family ….. I need some me time!
And finally, what is your burning ambition?
On a personal level, I would love to compete in a half Iron man event! I also support and raise money for Leukaemia Research; a charity close to my heart.
